Mens Spring Suits
Mens Spring Suits: Shoulder Season Royalty
The bridge between seasons deserves better than a shiver. Our mens spring suits are built for the days when a full suit is too much and boardshorts are not enough: flexible neoprene, minimal bulk, and the freedom to surf longer while the water makes up its mind. Think 60 to 70°F. Think long sessions. Think very little rubber.
Short johns, long sleeves, and every flavor of almost-wetsuit. Need more coverage? Mens full suits await. Need less? Boardshorts, obviously.
Vissla Mens Spring Suits: Light Neoprene Coverage for Warm Water Surfing
A spring suit sits between a rash guard and a full wetsuit — short-arm, short-leg construction in 2mm neoprene that covers the core and keeps you in the water longer when the water is warm but the morning is cold. Vissla spring suits use the same Super Stretch S-Foam limestone neoprene as the full 7 Seas wetsuit range — no quality compromise because the suit got smaller. Available in chest-zip and back-zip entry. Ships free to the US on orders over $100.
When Does a Spring Suit Make Sense?
Three conditions make a spring suit the right call: California May through October when water is 65–72°F and a full suit feels heavy but bare skin leaves you cold. Tropical surf destinations where you want some coverage for long paddle sessions. Early summer mornings when air temperature hasn't caught up with water temperature. For water below 65°F, upgrade to a 3/2mm full suit. Above 72°F, a UPF rash guard is all you need.
Spring Suit Thicknesses and Use Cases
- 2/2mm Spring Suit: Water 68–72°F. California summer standard. Maximum flex, minimum coverage.
- 2mm Long-Sleeve Spring Suit: Water 65–70°F. More upper body coverage for shoulder season mornings.
- Spring Suit vs Rash Guard: Spring suit provides neoprene warmth plus UV protection. Rash guard provides UPF 50+ UV with zero thermal warmth. Water above 72°F: rash guard. Water 65–72°F: spring suit.
Benefits of Vissla Spring Suits
- Same Neoprene as Full Suits: S-Foam limestone neoprene identical to the full 7 Seas range. Softer, more durable than petroleum neoprene at the same thickness.
- GBS Seam Construction: Glued and blind-stitched seams on all 2mm suits. Holds through season-long daily surfing.
- Freedom of Movement: Short-arm, short-leg cut dramatically reduces restriction on paddling and pop-ups versus a full suit.
- 1-Year Warranty: Full seam and neoprene warranty consistent with all Vissla wetsuits.
Also available: Youth Spring Suits. For UV protection without neoprene, see UPF Rash Guards. Temperature guidance: Wetsuit Guide.
