What Is Cosmic Series?
Cosmic Series is Vissla's traveling surf contest built around one idea: culture over competition. We show up to a local break, hand out vintage boards, and let the community do the rest.
The boards are the whole point. Every heat runs on '70s single fins and '80s twin fins, most of them older than the competitors riding them. Nobody's on their own equipment, nobody's got an edge. Just you, a board with some history in it, and whatever the ocean gives you that day.
Judging is loose by design, split evenly across style, your ride, and how much stoke you're putting out there. There's no priority during heats. Party waves are not just allowed, they're encouraged. If a good one rolls through, take it together.
Cosmic Series kicked off on the East Coast this year with a four-stop tour through New Jersey and Virginia, from Manasquan Inlet down through Atlantic Park Surf's wave pool in Virginia Beach. Every stop looked a little different. Same energy throughout.

Melbourne Beach gets the full send-off. The night before the contest, we're throwing a kickoff party at Catalyst with a screening of Ryan Huckabee's latest film. Then it's straight into contest day on the sand at Ocean Ave. Beach.

Stop two heads south to Boynton Beach, running the contest alongside our partners at Nomad. Same format, same vintage boards, new stretch of coastline. The day wraps with another movie showing back at the shop.
