The Surf Farm: How We Built The Ecology Center x Vissla Collection

Some collabs make immediate sense. This one made even more sense than that.

We've known Evan Marks for a long time. He's been part of the Vissla Creator & Innovator program since the beginning, and what he's built at The Ecology Center in San Juan Capistrano has always felt like a physical extension of the same values we try to put into product: intentionality, craft, and a genuine connection to the coast.

When we started talking about a collection together, we knew it couldn't just be a logo swap. It needed to feel like it came up out of the ground. So we brought in Cody Hudson.

If you know Cody's work, you know why. He operates at the edge of surf, art, and graphic design in a way that never feels forced. His original patterns and graphics for this collection pull from the textures and energy of the farm itself. The land. The light. The particular kind of stoke that Evan has been growing in SJC since 2008.

The result is a limited-run collection of boardshorts and apparel we're genuinely proud of. Pieces that carry real DNA from a real place.

We also made a film about it. A documentary, kind of. The Ecology Center has been distributing stoke since 2008, and we felt the world deserved to know the full story. The humor is dry. The sincerity is real. Nobody is winking at the camera.

That's the thing about this one. Underneath the Surf Farm jokes, there's something worth saying. The Ecology Center is a real place doing real work: growing food, building community, showing what regenerative living looks like when you actually commit to it. That kind of intention doesn't end at the farm gate. It shows up in the product.

Go watch the film. Then go shop the collection.
