The weekend starts the night before the contest. On June 5, we’re throwing a party at The Ecology Center in San Juan Capistrano to kick off Cosmic Creek in the best way we know how: live music, farm fresh food, local beer on tap, and good people gathering ahead of a great weekend.

Free and open to the public. Come check in for the contest, grab your goodie bag, and get the weekend started right.

The Lineup

Primitive Ring

An LA power trio featuring Charles Moothart (FUZZ), Bert Hoover (HOOVERIII), and Jon Modaff (Frankie & The Witch Fingers), Primitive Ring arrived already knowing exactly what they wanted to be. The ‘70s hard rock influence runs deep: proto-metal crunch with the sweaty, physical energy of a great bar band locked into a one-hour set that leaves the room buzzing. Their self-titled debut dropped earlier this month on In The Red Records. 

Oog Bogo

LA-based Oog Bogo is the project of Kevin Boog, who has released music on Ty Segall’s God? label and most recently on In The Red Records. Songwriter Kevin Boog swings between mutated melodies and total auditory annihilation: monolithic guitar tones, driving bass, and a sound that insists you move. Weird, alive, and impossible to ignore.

DJ Brindles

Brindles has been spinning records for over 15 years, created a local legendary concert series called The WaxBall, and hosted his own radio show, The Fuzz Show, for close to a decade. Before and after the bands, he'll be holding it down with an all-vinyl record set of weird and obscure tracks that'll keep you psyched throughout the night.
