Foggy Notion: Vissla’s Fall Collection Hits the Cold Coast
There’s something about the California coast in the fall. The fog hangs low, the air gets sharp, and the waves get good enough to justify stuffing a board or two into the back of a beat-up van. That’s exactly what we did for the launch of our new Fall Collection: Foggy Notion - a road trip that drifted up Highway 1 and wrapped itself around San Francisco’s foggy edges.

Along the way, Vissla surfers Derrick Disney, Nick Melanson, and Wilem Banks layered up in flannels, fleece, and cold-weather essentials built for the kind of sessions where you need warmth as much as wax. Somewhere between surf checks and gas station coffee runs, we linked up with Danny Hess - Vissla Creator & Innovator, shaper, and all-around NorCal wizard - for a cameo in the city surf haze.

The trip was impromptu, as most of the best ones are. A little bay surf, some long drives on the central coast, and plenty of fog rolling in right when you thought the sun might stick. Luckily, the Foggy Notion Collection is made for exactly that: layered flannels, durable pants, heavyweight fleece, and gear that thrives when the temperature drops and the coastline feels like another planet.

Fall in California isn’t endless summer. It’s better. It’s moody, unpredictable, and filled with those days where the van heater never really kicks in, but the lineup makes it worth it. That’s the spirit of Foggy Notion - a collection designed for cold surf, city edges, and the road between.
