Cosmic Shores - Twin Fins, Singles, & A Whole Lotta Jersey Heat

You haven’t truly experienced surf culture until you’ve watched a mullet-toting local soul arch on a fluorescent 5'8" twin fin in 85° water while Bruce blares from a speaker buried in the sand. Welcome to Cosmic Shores: New Jersey Edition—our humid, neon-drenched love letter to vintage craft and East Coast grit.

This July, we rolled up the coast with a van full of throwback boards, bad tan lines, and our newest film Friction of Perception in tow. The tour made three iconic stops:

Manasquan:
Locals dusted off their 70s single fins, squeezed into retro spring suits, and turned back the clock on a waist-high punchy sandbar. There were turns, trims, and questionable moustaches—just the way we like it. The night turned it up mid flash-flood warning at the local brewhouse, Last Wave Brewing.

Ship Bottom:
The surf gods cooperated and the vibes were high. Twin fins ruled the lineup, and an impromptu freestyle commentary session from the beach kept the crowd howling louder than the wind chop. We also held the first annual 'Hands Free Jelly Donut Eating Contest' during the competition. Absolute success.

Margate Pier:
The finale. Just enough swell showed up for some long, flowing lines and full-rail throwbacks. The contest ended with a golden-hour screening of Friction of Perception, Liam O’Brien’s dreamy-yet-daggering surf odyssey, projected under the stars out back behind Heritage Surf Shop.

Cosmic Shores isn’t about chasing perfect surf—it’s about chasing the perfect feeling. It’s about honoring the roots, laughing at the ridiculous, and building community through saltwater and nostalgia.
Thanks to everyone who came out, competed, cheered, hooted, and maybe even waxed the wrong side of their board (hey, it happens).

Until next time, stay cosmic.
