Mens Boardshorts
Self Expression & The Art Of Sustainability
Since our genesis, we've strived to be different. Making comfortable boardshorts that embrace sustainable materials while not sacrificing performance or comfort has been the cornerstone of Vissla. With the foundation rooted in fabrics like recycled Repreve polyester and upcycled coconut husks, we've built up a quiver of boardshorts that embrace earth-friendly practices while giving us a canvas for creative self-expression.
Not all boardshorts are created equal. Ours are created from coconuts.
Vissla Mens Boardshorts: Eco Surf Board Shorts Built from What's Left Behind
Vissla mens boardshorts are built on a simple premise: the best surf boardshorts should not cost the ocean. The full range uses upcycled coconut-husk polyester, Repreve recycled plastic content, and PFC-free DWR water repellency — eliminating harmful fluorocarbons while delivering the stretch, fit, and durability serious surfers demand. Every pair constructed with 4-way stretch fabric for unrestricted movement in any direction. Available in 17, 19, and 21-inch outseam across three distinct silhouettes.
What Makes Vissla Boardshorts Different
Upcycled coconut-husk polyester diverts agricultural waste from landfill into high-performance surf fabric. Repreve converts post-consumer plastic bottles (5–7 per boardshort) into stretch fabric without virgin synthetic materials. PFC-free DWR keeps water beading off the surface without releasing PFAS chemicals that accumulate in waterways and marine ecosystems. Eco-credentials at every step of production — not marketing language applied to a conventional product.
Types of Vissla Boardshorts
- Fixed Waist Boardshorts: Traditional button and lace closure. The surf standard — a locked-in fit that stays put through wipeouts, duck dives, and aerial attempts. Available in 17, 19, and 21-inch outseam.
- Eco-Lastics: Elastic waistband construction. The all-day boardshort that goes from parking lot to lineup without adjustment. Same 4-way stretch and eco-materials, in a pull-on fit.
- No See Ums: Ultra-lightweight construction for warm water and tropical destinations where minimum between you and the water is the goal.
- Artist Collaboration Boardshorts: Vissla's Creators and Innovators program brings limited seasonal prints from artists within the surf world.
Outseam Lengths Explained
- 17-inch: Competition-length. Maximum leg freedom. Preferred by performance surfers who want zero fabric interference above the knee.
- 19-inch: Most versatile. Sits mid-thigh — long enough for all-day wear, short enough for unrestricted surfing. Most popular length in the range.
- 21-inch: Lifestyle length. Full coverage and a relaxed fit for beach days when you're more spectator than surfer.
