The 12th annual Vissla Cosmic Children took place at the iconic natural reserve beach of Liencres, Spain on the weekend of the 17th and 18th of June. We were greeted with sunshine and windy waves for the alternative, more experimental board-riding style of the 70’s and 80’s.

Bright and early on Saturday morning, shapers, contestants and spectators flooded the beach, ready to enjoy a day full of surf and good vibes. Groms were riding boards that were double their age while older competitors knew that they were surfing pieces of the past. They could feel it. There was no real "competition", just the surfers, the boards, and the stoke of being together and sharing boards and stories.

On Saturday night everyone hang around to enjoy the D’blanc night with cold beers and live music by The Surfin Limones.

Sunday was finals day and for the 2nd year in a row one of the highlight of the weekend was the Shred Your Shape category. A growing number of Pro shapers came from all over Europe and beyond (France, Spain, Italy, Australia, UK, Portugal….) to surf a handmade replica of a MR twin fin or a Terry Fitzgerald Single Fin and try to win some cash! The best replica board was also judeged and announced by legendary craftsman Phil Grace who has worked alongside Mark Richards himself.

We ended this weekend full of stoke with the prizes ceremonym giving away the King Millenium boat trip to the Mentawaiis and the Natural Surf House trip to the Maldives to the lucky winners of the Pro and Am divisions.

Stay tuned we’ll be back next year for another weekend of good times!!
