Vissla is proud to collaborate with premium Japanese wetsuit maker BEWET.

THIS IS THE STORY
For starters all of the wetsuits are hand-made in Japan, a congregation of islands in the Pacific ocean known for their attention to detail in every order of their lives. Our polychloroprene (Neoprene) is made of limestone. Neoprene is typically made of petroleum through a chemical process, but due to it’s innefficiency, BEWET does not use petroleum. The limestone is sourced in the Kurochime Mountains area in Niigata, Japan. The mountain range originated from plankton piled up over 300 million years ago in the Pacific Ocean, making the ranges’ content one of the highest degrees in purity. The limestone is heated with cokes, (a fuel with very few impurities) to make a carbide bond. Then the carbide is processed with acetylene gas and hydrochloric acid to make polychloropene.

To even further their commitment to sustainability, the factory uses only hydroelectric power that comes from 15 power stations located in the Hida Mountains to heat the materials. This makes it self-sustainable and eco friendly. Corn oil is used as softener instead of petroleum additives. More than 60% of the electricity for the factory is powered by solar panels on the rooftop (100% on a sunny day!). The remnants from BEWET’s factory as well as used wetsuits from customers are taken to a thermal power station in Tomakomai City, Hokkaido to eventually break down and generate electricity.

CARE
• Treat with special care! You just bought a premium Japanese made wetsuit please treat it like one.
• Rinse wetsuit thoroughly inside and out with fresh water
• Hang dry in a cool shaded area and avoid hanging in direct sun light. While not using, store your suit in a cool area, preferably on a wetsuit hanger.
• When changing after surfing, avoid standing on the wetsuit. This will cause extra stress to the rubber & seams, which can result in a tear.
